When the first lockdown hit the UK in April 2020, I made the decision to document my life through a blog. One of my best friends, @onhannahsbookshelf (cheeky plug for you) has a blog which has always amazed me. With her encouragement, MegsCoffeeBreak begun and blogging became a part of my daily routine- until I moved half way across the country for University.
I really enjoyed having a blog for the few months I wrote and being apart of the small blogger community felt wholesome and fulfilling. Making some really great friends along the way, I found writing a really great pass time whilst being stuck at home for all that time. It didn’t seem like there would ever be an end to it- until there was. The transition between my small home town and a big city like Birmingam was very daunting… and busy. I was constantly busy. Obviously, I moved mid pandemic which was just insane and weird in all honesty. Adjusting to half online work and half in person work was… again weird. Also, living with 5 people who I knew nothing about was, you guessed it, weird.
Anyway, everything got too much and my blogging addiction slowly dwindled down; all my time was being spent on uni work (so much uni work). This led to what I thought would be the end of a little ‘fad’. However, recently things have calmed down. I’m settled in the city and my flatmates are now some of my favourite people in the world and my love for blogging has rapidly come back. So I’m giving it another go and this time there won’t be an end. MegsCoffeeBreak is back up and running and trust me, I’m here for the long run. I’m so excited to get back into the blogging community and to rekindle old friendships; I’m so sorry for leaving you all, please forgive me!
Over on my Instagram stories, (@megscoffeebreak) I asked if anyone had any questions about the whole situation and the majority of the questions were just ‘what happened?’. In addition to what I already spoke about, in all honesty, it just did get too much and I found it hard to keep it up. A lot more hours go into the keeping up with a blog than just writing and posting. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it- I love it and I find it so relaxing.
‘What are you doing now A levels are over?‘ So, I’m currently doing my degree in Psychology and Sociology at a University in Birmingham. I’m so happy right now: I’m loving my course, my house, my flatmates… everything! I miss my home, my family and my cat but I adore living here and I’m so happy. The one bad thing is corona (as always) and studying is all online so it’s requiring a lot of self motivation at the moment.
‘Are you keeping to a schedule this time?’ I’m aiming for a schedule this time. A new blog post should be out every Sunday around midday but there may be more than that. My university work load is different every week and I aim to spend as much time as possible on the blog so keep your eyes peeled on my page and my socials for when I post!
‘Will you be posting similar content to before?’ Yes! My content will basically be unchanged as I still enjoy all the same things. For those who don’t know, I write about being a student, motivation and productivity tips, keeping routines and basically everything about living in this world as a teenager. If anybody has any suggestions to what you want to read about, my Instagram DMs are ALWAYS open!
‘What made you start a blog in the first place?’ I used to speak about this all the time! I’ve never really read blogs before, I was clueless about the whole community. During April of last year I was looking for things to do and one morning I woke up and the idea literally just came to me to start writing a blog. I can’t even begin to explain how random the idea was. That same day, I asked my friend who has a book blog how she uses her website and with her help, MegsCoffeeBreak was up by the evening. I never looked back, my addicition started right there and then.
‘Are you excited to get back into the blog?’ SO MUCH. I lived for my blog during lockdown, it was constantly on my mind. I can already feel myself buzzing off the idea of being back. I love the people, I love talking about experiences which people can relate to. Having conversations with other small bloggers on Instagram is so inspiring and it’s just such a joyful thing to be doing. So yes! Very very excited to be back.
Stay tuned for my first proper blogpost on Sunday, I’m so excited to be back! Thank you so much for the support you’ve shown me and I’ll catch you in the next one- Megs xoxo
